I was looking through all the rings in the items section, and although there are a lot of rings with awesome attributes, one stood out in particular: the Puzzle Ring. At first it seems a simple thing; +18% damage, and +0.24 attacks per second. Then the +5 random properties note sinks in…
I dearly want my melee characters to be double fisting this ring. It may take some time, but eventually I see +36% damage, +0.48 attacks per second, and 10 additional attributes which are exactly what I needed to perfect the build. Need crit? No prob. Need dodge? Covered. Resistances? Defense? There is no limit here. I foresee this being one of the most valuable rings, desired by all kinds of character builds.
And oh my, the variation. You will definitely find some that are more than useless.
How do you think it stacks up versus the other rings?
Blizzard has opened up the items section on the Diablo community site. There for all to see are the basic items as well as information on the base stats for magic, rare, and legendary items. A lot of time could be spent looking over all the types and other miscellaneous items such as gems, dyes, and crafting materials.
Handy features such as sorting by name, required level, and important stats (such as armor, DPS, speed) are provided to ensure we can quickly find what we are looking for. Also provided is a text filter for when you already know what you want to find.
We were all hoping for a 2011 release, including Blizzard. Alas, newly released information tells us that early 2012 is now the target. Blizzard is well known for not providing exact release dates and pushing the final release back as far as far as possible, all in an effort to provide well polished and nearly perfect games.
Official Word: “Soon” Was Too Soon
And the excitement rises! Blizzard is now sending out invites to those randomly selected to participate in the closed beta. We’re now another step closer to release!
The official word from Blizzard:
The fiery gates leading to the Burning Hells have begun to swing open, and the Diablo III beta test is officially underway. Invitations to participate in the beta test are now being delivered to the chosen heroes. As with beta tests for other Blizzard Entertainment games, the testing process for Diablo III will occur in phases. In addition to selecting players who have opted in via their Battle.net accounts, we’ll also be providing keys through beta promotions and giveaways — stay tuned for more info. We welcome those invited to provide feedback or report bugs on the official forums.
They also remind us to keep an eye out for phishing attempts. If you receive a Beta invite, be sure to log onto your Battle.NET account to check for sure and not click on any links provided to you via email.
Good luck to everyone!
And be sure to keep an eye out for all the live streams and YouTube videos that are for sure to start popping up.

Blizzard has revealed their online Game Guide recently. It promises to provide everything we need to slay Diablo’s minions. It provides information on the character classes and all their skills + runestone effects. There is also a section for the Followers, for the Artisans, for Items, and for the Acts. I assume information on the monsters themselves will be found in the Acts section. However, a lot of this information is still not revealed. Everything is hush hush to not spoil the story and all the discoveries we are all excited to make!
What is available is a Skill Calculator! You can play around and select skills for your characters and share your builds. This can be extremely useful for anyone wanting to plan ahead, or those who don’t get into beta. I know I will be using it in conjunction with the Character Builds section here, so we can easily share which builds we have tested.
The money managing service that will “function like PayPal, but is not necessarily PayPal” has now been confirmed: And yes, its PayPal. Its likely we will all have a PayPal account soon enough in order to cash-out from Diablo’s real money auction house.
